Who Are We?

Mission Statement

Formed in 1993 PROSTAID Calgary is celebrating over 30 years of service to Calgary and surrounding areas.

PROSTAID Calgary relies entirely on private contributions to sustain and expand its initiatives, which include our monthly meetings, website prostaid.org, and journal, The Digital Examiner.

• Our monthly meetings feature prominent health specialists and include an opportunity to catch up with old friends or make new friends.

• Our website is a great resource to find out what is happening with the society, what’s new in Prostate Cancer research. It is updated regularly, so come back often.

• Our monthly journal, The Digital Examiner, is currently sent to over 1300 subscribers. If you would like us to add you to our mailing list for this free service, just sign up here

I look forward to the opportunity of meeting you at one of our monthly meetings.

Our Mission Statement

PROSTAID Calgary exists to make sure no one faces prostate cancer alone. We provide peer support rooted in lived experience, offer clear and accessible education, and raise awareness about early detection so families can find strength, clarity, and hope at every step of the journey. Together, we help men, partners, and caregivers navigate this disease with compassion, community, and practical guidance.

We focus on three core priorities.

Offering peer support so men and their families feel understood, informed, and never alone on their prostate cancer journey.

Raising awareness and helping our community understand the importance of early detection and education.

Advocating for a strong provincial voice that ensures prostate cancer patients and caregivers are heard, supported, and valued.

The Fine Print

We are here to offer support, not medical advice. We do not recommend specific treatments, medications, physicians, or products. If medical guidance is shared, it should come only from a qualified health care professional.

At times, you may hear differing or even controversial opinions during our meetings. This is part of learning from real experiences. Still, any medical decisions should always be made in consultation with your health care team.

We believe every person deserves clear information and the confidence to make informed choices about their treatment and care. Our role is to help you gather knowledge, ask questions, and feel supported along the way.
